The new Gas Safe Register logo effective from 1st April 2009 The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has appointed a new body to provide and maintain a new gas safety register across England, Scotland and Wales. Gas Safe Register replaces CORGI
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has appointed a new body to provide and maintain a new gas safety register across England, Scotland and Wales. Gas safety in homes and business premises is currently managed by CORGI but from the 1st April 2009 it will be operated by the Gas Safe Register TM.
What does this mean to you?
If you have any kind of gas or LPG work undertaken in your home you need to make sure the engineer or installer is registered on the Gas Safe Register™; CORGI registration will no longer apply. The Gas Safe Register™ will be making it easier for you to find a registered engineer with their new ‘Find an Installer’ service. This will give full details of the engineer, their qualifications and even their picture (where permitted). There will also be a new ‘Check an Installer’ service that allows you to either call or text to make sure an engineer is registered to carry out the work.
The new Gas Safe Register™ will dramatically improve Gas Safety across the country and will not only provide peace of mind for homeowners but also provide information on the dangers of Carbon Monoxide and the importance of regular servicing.
